A first time for everything

My Beautiful Daughters,

When I was young I dreamed of you.  I had no idea what my future would hold but I could not picture a life without children.  When I met your Daddy, I knew that he was going to be an amazing father.  I prayed for you so much before you were even born.

My life has changed so drastically in even just the 4 years that I have heard the wonderful word "Mommy" come from the lips of a baby girl.  I adore you and I love you for helping me see the world through different eyes.  It is a process, but slowly you are teaching me all about the important things in life.

Recently, I realized that I want to write you guys letters.  I want you to be able to look back and see your early years through my eyes.  I want you to see how much I truly desire to cherish every moment.  As I type this letter, I am filled with regret for not starting this sooner, and fear that I will not continue the letters, and insecurity in my abilities to write grammatically correct.  So if you are reading this and thinking that I missed four years, or that I only wrote one letter, or that this is written at a 8th grade level, please realize that I am doing my best.  Most of my time is spent with you (or sleeping!).

Raelynn,
You are growing up so fast.  Sometimes when I look at you it takes my breath away to think that you are already 4.  You are smart, you are a perfectionist, you are stubborn, you are shy, you depend on me and daddy and maylee for comfort in social settings.  You enjoy movies, barbies, dollbabys, coloring, and any art projects, you love playing outside in the sand, riding your tricycle, playing in the creek, and you don't mind getting dirty.  You love your sisters, you enjoy playing with them and being in charge of the playing.  We just got back from some vacation.  Your favorite things were the swings at sesame place, swimming in Grandpa's pool (you even jumped off the side to Daddy), and playing in the creek/pirateship playground in Colorado.
Today you helped me make pancakes and we did preschool for 1 1/2 hours.  You didn't take a nap (On relaxing days you don't need them anymore).  You love to dress up and look pretty, you love the princesses but your favorite is Ariel, you like pink and dancing, and did I mention you want to be a princess when you grow up?

Maylee,
Your smile can light up a room.  You giggle a lot and you love to be funny and make others laugh.  You are very smart.  You are emotional and wear your heart on your sleeve.  Your hair is as wild and crazy as you!  You typically follow Raelynn's lead with playing, but you are not afraid to stand up for what you want, if it is something different.  You LOVE the color Blue, dinosaurs, Cinderella, your paci (pacifier), Dora pillow, and Baby Charlotte.  I have enjoyed watching your friendship develop with both of your sisters.  You provide a lot of confidence for your older sister and are truly overjoyed to see her after preschool.  Since Charlotte has started walking you two cuddle and giggle like crazy.  She adores you.  You are a Daddy's girl.  You have such joy that you play with wreckless abandonment for safety and you are always needing a bandaid which seems to instantly cure any bumps or bruises:).  You are very loving and cuddly, but hard to get to sit still.  You eat nonstop and you are so tiny and light.  Your favorite things to wear are your dinosaur shirt from Oma, and your puggles shirt and you love to be comfy.  You take your shoes off in the car all the time (it drives me crazy), and you always want to wear your pajamas at naptime.  Today you got sad and said "I want Daddy to come home from work, and stay here Forever."  I told you he had to work so he could buy groceries, and you said "you can just buy them from the store."  You are very observant and smart and did I mention a Daddy's girl?!

Charlotte,
I love that you have red hair.  I feel a special bond with you because you are the only one with red hair like me.  When you smile your nose crinkles (it is adorable).  You have always been an amazing baby.  I called you the "world's best baby."  You slept through the night at 6 days old.  You were very flexible with your eating and sleeping.  But you were a Mommy's girl. You cried in the nursery and with babysitters and refused a bottle.  But for me you were amazing.  You started crawling at Easter (you were 11 months old) and you started walking during vacation bible school (15 months old).  Your personality changed as soon as you started walking.  You wanted to do everything that your sisters did!  You get very upset if they get up from their beds and you are stuck in your crib, or if they get up from the table and you are trapped in the highchair.  You are no longer content to be confined and you want to be right in the middle of the action.  But you are still a great baby.  You entertain yourself in the playroom with the girls for hours.  You are very independent.  You still do not talk much, but you are a very effective communicator.  You do not like help eating, but you eat whatever the family is eating.  You love to wave to people and to clap.  My favorite facial expression of yours is when you are proud of yourself you smile HUGE.  You already have freckles and a mouth full of teeth!  You say Mama, Hello, Owww, Hi, ByeBye, Daddy, Up and Done.  I love that you still smell like a baby.  When I look at you I am filled with joy, you love your sisters so much, but I am sad that my baby is growing up.

Girls,
I adore you and want to be the best Mom ever.  I desire to be the Mom that you remember praying for you and with you.  I want you to remember seeing my reading my bible and I want you to most of all remember how much I love you.
You are blessed with the best Daddy a girl could ever hope to have.  He gets up early and reads his bible upstairs with a cup of coffee and he works hard to provide for us and to allow me to stay home with ya'll.  I have learned so much from him.  I hope that one day all 3 of you marry a man as patient, loving, and Godly as him.
I love you and will write again soon,
Love,
Mom
